Members: Alex Klein, Adam Kenet, Brian Wang, Gavin Frezenko, Jeremy Schwartz
Utilizing the telescope atop the Bloomberg building, we photographed the event on Monday morning 11/11 from approximately 7:30am - 1:00pm. After analyzing the images and comparing them to GONG solar imagery. we calculated the distance from the Sun to Earth with the images! By comparing the paths and angles of Mercury from 5 different telescopes, we calculated the distance between the planet and Earth to be 173 million km, a 17% error off of the actual 148 million km value.
